SPECS     1956 Ford Fairlane Club Sedan     SOLD

This was my muti-award winning 1956 Ford Fairlane Club Sedan, named "Lemonade 10¢." I owned the car
from December, 2003 to May, 2009. The car was housed in North Vancouver and Courtenay (in Vancouver
Island's beautiful Comox Valley), B.C.
Many parts and vendors were invloved in this car's extensive
restoration - click on above links. The club for these 50's Ford cars is the Crown Victoria Association.

The car's history is mostly unknown before 2003. However, there are copies of a 1992 title and transfer from
Wooster, Ohio to Cincinnati, Ohio, and a 2003 title and transfer from Dearborn, Michigan to North Vancouver,
British Columbia, Canada. The car was imported to Canada, December 2, 2003. It has passed government-
required safety and AirCare (pollution) tests. It was insured with the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia
as a "collector vehicle" and licensed with "stock collector plates."

This 1956 Ford Fairlane Club Sedan has had a body-off-frame restoration to match its data plate codes. Most
components have been rebuilt with new genaric, new reproduction, new-old-stock (NOS) or new-old-reproduction-
stock (NORS)
parts. All components are functional - including the "Console Range" Motorola tube-type AM radio,
the electric clock with sweep-second hand, and the "automatic pop-out cigar lighter." Two "tailored accessory"
door mounted side-view mirrors
were added for improved visibility. The stock body is complimented with new
reproduction period-correct fog lights, and new reproduction 1962-64 Thunderbird-style (Kelsey-Hayes) wire
wheels
. New radial tires with correct-width sparkling-white side-walls were added to provide modern-car traction.
The car sits at the correct height of 7 inches at the outer frame rails.

Ford advertising stated, "When it comes to 6-passenger sedans, two-door style . . . . this beauty has no peer."
The "Ford Crestmark" body colours are "Style-Tone" M Code Goldenglow Yellow and E Code Colonial White.

The "Fairlane Luxury Lounge" is "color-harmonized" L Code "Cloth Gray Interior Trim" of "gray metallic" paint,
and vinyl and "random dot nylon cloth with interwoven silver yarn" upholstery. The front seat is manually adjusted.
Steering is manual. The "Lifeguard Design" 18-inch 3-spoke deep-center steering wheel requires 4-3/4 turns
lock-to-lock. The car has a 41-foot turning diameter. Brakes are manual "double-seal hydraulic" with "king size"
11-inch drums.

The 1956 Fairlane's M Code engine was the famous 2-overhead-valve 292-cubic-inch Y-block "Thunderbird
V-8"
producing 202 horsepower and 289 foot-pounds of torque (with Fordomatic). It was the standard engine in
1955 Thunderbird's and 1955 Mercury's. As well, only Fairlane V-8 models had dual exhaust "ported through
the rear bumper."

On Lemonade 10¢, the original oil-bath air cleaner was converted to contain a more-practical K&N filter. The
original Holley 4000 4-barrel "teapot" carburetor was replaced with a more-dependable (1958-up) new Holley
4160 4-barrel carb that sits on a (1957-up) 1957 Ford "B" intake manifold. The Holley loadomatic vacuum-
advance distributor
was replaced with a more-responsive (1957-up) 1959 Ford distributor with vacuum and
centrifugal advance, and Pertronix electronic ignition. Instant throttle response and snappy acceleration are
provided by this torque-rich engine and the optional (lower) 3.89 to 1 rear gears.
M Code 292 Y-block Thunderbird Engine (with Holley 4160 Carb)
1956 was the first year for Ford's new 12-volt electrical system with "high-output" 30-amp. generator and 55-amp.
"Power Punch" tar-top battery
.

The "Speed-Trigger Fordomatic Drive" 3-speed automatic transmission starts in 2nd-gear in normal "Drive" range
operation. Flooring the throttle pedal accomplishes 1st-gear fast-getaway starts and automatic up-shifts to 2nd-
and 3rd-gears. Cruising-speed downshifts to passing-gear (2nd-gear) are accomplished by pressing firmly on the
throttle pedal.

The trunk is complete with an original-type Firestone 6.70 x 15" bias 4-ply tubeless wide-white-side-wall spare
tire
, a "large plaid" fleese-backed mat, and a bumper jack. The rear license plate is enclosed in an extremely rare
re-chromed original factory accessory "hooded design" frame.
